About the position
Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a SolarWinds Engineer responsible for engineering, optimizing, configuring, and monitoring the performance of systems using SolarWinds. This hybrid position requires one day a week onsite in Annapolis Junction, MD, and requires a Secret Clearance, with the potential to hold a Top Secret clearance.
Responsibilities
- Configure SolarWinds to meet the specific needs of the system to successfully monitor performance and availability.
- Create SolarWinds console roles and reviews, and create and install custom modules as needed.
- Monitor existing applications/systems and infrastructure, including creating custom reports on SolarWinds monitoring reports.
- Research and monitor current end-user response times as well as application and system performance and availability.
- Work directly with application and infrastructure teams to set up performance monitoring for applications, databases, network, and Cloud.
- Determine problems within SolarWinds systems and provide solutions for issue resolution.
- Work to improve monitoring capabilities through seeking customer feedback; collaborate with other IT professionals to develop and implement strategies for improving network and system performance using SolarWinds.
- Train and support other users on how to use SolarWinds, and provide application support broadly across multiple teams.
Requirements
- Active Secret Clearance - can hold a Top Secret
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- 6+ years hands-on experience with SolarWinds
- 5+ years of experience in SolarWinds monitoring
- 5+ years of experience on multiple OS platforms
- Experience with monitoring multiple environments and VMware virtualization technologies
- Familiarity with Microsoft, UNIX, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux server OS
Nice-to-haves
- Experience developing standard operating procedures and project documentation
- Knowledge of LAN/WAN network infrastructure technologies
- Knowledge of automation using tools such as Chef, Ansible, Puppet, etc.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Knowledge of server virtualization technologies, such as VMware
- Experience in Agile delivery
Benefits
- Compensation range of $185,000-$195,000 depending on years of experience and degree
