About the position
The Production Technical Operator 4 is responsible for operating various soldering equipment, including solder wave, vapor degreaser machine, selective solder, air vac lead free and leaded solder pots, SRT rework station, and special parts preparation equipment. The role involves soldering, cleaning, reworking, and fabricating parts, components, and subassemblies using scopes, basic hand tools, and special devices for the production of components and assemblies. The operator must ensure quality production by setting up and maintaining equipment, following guidelines, and performing periodic inspections.
Responsibilities
- Operate soldering equipment such as solder wave and selective soldering machines.
- Select and add flux, clean equipment, and maintain PM schedules.
- Set up wave height, width, and conveyor speed on wave solder equipment.
- Review routings against prints to ensure consistency.
- Perform hand soldering under a scope for touch-ups and product reviews.
- Prepare wires by cutting, stripping, twisting, tinning, and soldering.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area and materials.
- Assist co-workers to meet work unit goals and seek continuous process improvement.
- Train other employees and assist in orientation of new employees.
Requirements
- High School education or equivalent.
- Experience reading blueprints and working with scopes in a manufacturing setting.
- Solder experience in a manufacturing setting, including hand soldering and machine soldering.
- Ability to pass J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 Certification.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with surface mount equipment.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS 9100 work instructions.
