About the position

As a Solid Waste Civil Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting solid waste engineering projects through landfill design and analysis. This includes the development of plans and drawings, project submittals to clients, and presenting your work to clients or regulatory bodies. You will be an integral part of Blackstone's solid waste practice, focusing on client development and management, project execution, and staff development. Your responsibilities will also involve identifying and developing new business opportunities, preparing effective technical proposals, and taking an active leadership role in business development with existing clients. Additionally, you will provide oversight for landfill Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) projects and assist in the design and permitting of landfill components such as landfill gas systems, leachate collection systems, landfill expansion, and final cover design. You will serve as a technical resource for various solid waste engineering projects and may also be involved in other engineering assignments, including Water Resources projects and SPCC Plans, as needed by the firm.

Responsibilities

• Landfill design and analysis to support solid waste engineering projects including plan and drawing development, project submittals to clients, and presentations of work to clients or regulators.
• Support Blackstone's solid waste practice through client development and management, project execution, and staff development.
• Help identify and develop new opportunities, prepare effective technical proposals, and take an active leadership role in the development of new business with existing clients.
• Assist Blackstone in developing new business from private and public solid waste clients.
• Provide experience and oversight for landfill CQA projects.
• Assist and/or manage the design and permitting of landfill components, including landfill gas systems, leachate collection systems, landfill expansion, and final cover design.
• Serve as a technical resource for solid waste engineering projects.
• Other engineering assignments such as Water Resources projects; SPCC Plans; etc. as needed by the firm.

Requirements

• Minimum B.S. in Engineering (civil, chemical, environmental, or mechanical) or related discipline.
• Minimum of two years of industry experience in solid waste consulting.
• Experience working with regulatory agencies and private and public solid waste clients.
• Experience in design and permitting of landfill and solid waste projects.
• Strong engineering skills with the ability to communicate, write, and critically think.
• Professional Engineer license preferred.
• Technical competence in design and permitting of landfill and solid waste components.
• Knowledge of landfill gas system design, installation, monitoring, and reporting.
• Experience in Landfill Construction Quality Assurance.
• Knowledge of applicable local, state and federal regulations.
• Strong communication and writing skills.
