About the position

The Solid Waste Programs Manager is responsible for managing and performing advanced professional assignments and supervising staff within the Solid Waste Division. This role includes the development and implementation of a 6-year capital facility plan, overseeing operations of County solid waste facilities, ensuring compliance with regulations, and managing capital projects related to solid waste facilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise staff within the Solid Waste Division.
• Develop and implement the 6-year capital facility plan for solid waste operations.
• Oversee design work, project estimating, and project management for capital projects.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and technical requirements for solid waste facilities.
• Administer contracts and grants related to solid waste projects.
• Prepare and make public presentations regarding projects and progress reports.
• Coordinate with specialists overseeing operations in planning and conducting capital projects.
• Establish standards of performance for supervised staff and evaluate their work.
• Respond to inquiries and resolve issues from the public and other departments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in engineering, science, environmental science, physical science or related field.
• Five years of professional experience in project coordination/management, preferably in solid waste facilities.
• One year of supervisory experience, preferably of large diverse work groups.
