About the position

Brown and Caldwell is seeking an entry-level solids and energy process engineer to join their team in Denver, CO. This role involves working on innovative wastewater treatment and energy recovery solutions, providing an opportunity to develop skills in a leading environmental engineering firm. The engineer will engage in various projects, collaborate with clients, and contribute to advancing climate-friendly solutions in the wastewater industry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering work with the Solids and Energy Specialty team on biosolids and wastewater projects for municipal and private industrial clients.
  • Conduct analysis, calculations, research, selection, and layout for projects, including conceptual planning studies and detailed design plans.
  • Serve as a project engineer and coordinate the work of engineers and technical staff on projects.
  • Interface with client staff to gather information, propose future work, and present findings.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other project personnel from different disciplines.
  • Contribute to research and development initiatives to advance industry innovation.
  • Provide technical sales support while collaborating with business development teams.
  • Participate in industry associations and present at conferences to represent the company.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering with an emphasis on wastewater solids process engineering; M.S. or PhD preferred.
  • Experience in municipal wastewater treatment, engineering, or management is a plus.
  • Coursework or research in anaerobic digestion is a plus.
  • Engineer-in-Training certification in Colorado or ability to obtain quickly through reciprocity preferred.
  • Self-driven and self-directed work performance demonstrating critical thinking and adaptability.
  • Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in planning, design, and client interfacing in wastewater treatment.
  • Graduate studies related to wastewater treatment.
