About the position

The Solution Architect Data Tools & Technology at Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits is a pivotal role focused on creating a sustainable technical architecture that aligns with the company's strategic goals. This position is responsible for designing comprehensive end-to-end solutions for various business and IT products or services. The architect will collaborate closely with cross-functional business and technical teams to ensure that the solutions not only meet technical specifications but also drive business outcomes. The individual in this role will possess a balanced mix of technical expertise and strong business acumen, working alongside an enterprise architect to establish strategic direction. As a leader within the SGWS IT organization, the Solution Architect will guide the overall technical vision for specific platforms or solutions, ensuring that all modules are integrated effectively. This role requires the ability to make informed technical decisions and articulate how technology design impacts business outcomes. The architect will provide essential information to development and infrastructure teams, enabling them to implement solutions that align with business objectives. The position demands a high level of leadership and associated behavioral competencies, as the architect will be responsible for fostering strong relationships with business stakeholders and ensuring that solution designs adhere to architectural principles and guidelines. In addition to technical responsibilities, the architect will be tasked with creating and maintaining data architecture patterns, providing guidance on best practices for cloud data platforms, and proactively staying updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in the Data and AI/ML space. The role also involves communicating risks and solutions to key stakeholders, ensuring that the technology used effectively addresses business challenges and supports future scalability and sustainability.

Responsibilities

• Build strong relationships and partner with business stakeholders for key initiatives related to Data platforms, BI and Analytics, Master Data Management and AI/ML.
• Ensure solution designs are in alignment with the architecture principles, guidelines and patterns before presenting to ARB (Architecture Review Board).
• Create new patterns and maintain existing patterns for data architecture.
• Provide guidance and expertise in designing solutions, defining standards and best practices in cloud data platforms.
• Prior hands-on experience in building end-to-end data pipelines, covering data acquisition, ingestion, transformation, enrichment and delivery (using AWS services).
• Experience working with unified data platform (Databricks, Snowflake, etc.) and building data pipelines using framework-based approach for code reusability and standardization.
• Collaborate with other functional and technical architects and create artifacts (Conceptual Architecture, Reference Architecture, Use case diagrams, data flows and Blues).
• Review the current state and define the Target state architecture for the cloud data platform, mapping the Process, Capabilities and Technology.
• Proactively follow industry trends, evaluate and stay updated with the emerging technologies in Data & AI/ML space.
• Communicate risks and solutions to cross functional key stakeholders.

Requirements

• 8+ years of work experience in IT with experience in designing technical solutions to meet business needs.
• Prior hands-on experience in building end-to-end data pipelines, covering data acquisition, ingestion, transformation, enrichment and delivery (using AWS services).
• Experience working with unified data platform (Databricks, Snowflake, etc.) and building data pipelines using framework-based approach for code reusability and standardization.
• Broad experience and exposure to a single platform environment to enable the proper perspective and ability to design an application or infrastructure solution.
• Strong understanding of business processes to create a cohesive vision of a usable product.
