About The Position

The Solution Architect - Data at MassMutual is responsible for designing and implementing data architecture solutions that support both analytical and operational use cases. This role requires proficiency in enterprise, application, and information data architecture design, with a strong emphasis on cloud technologies. The architect will lead the development of data integration strategies and ensure alignment with business and enterprise architecture standards. Excellent communication skills are essential for presenting to executive audiences and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a similar technical field.
• 8+ years of applications design and development experience, focusing on enterprise, application, and information data architecture design.
• 3+ years of experience in data architecture for analytics and operational reporting solutions, including data warehouse and data lake.
• 3+ years of experience in designing data integration solutions, including ETL and orchestration.
• 1+ year of backend development experience using Node.js, Express, MongoDB, GraphQL, RESTful APIs.
• 2+ years of experience with cloud data technologies, preferably AWS.
• 1+ year of Data Architect experience within the Life Insurance or Financial Services domain.

Nice To Haves

• Strong domain experience in Financial Services or Life Insurance industry.
• Experience with event streaming and web service protocols like SOAP, REST, JSON, or Kafka.
• Experience with Vertica or other columnar databases, and understanding of unified data analytics platforms like Snowflake or Databricks.
• Familiarity with insurance industry data standards like ACORD.

Responsibilities

• Design and establish a robust architecture for a data ecosystem that supports data persistence, processing, consumption, and analysis.
• Define and implement a Data Integration Strategy in collaboration with other architects to transition from point-to-point to passthrough integration models.
• Maintain an end-to-end vision of data flow for applications under purview.
• Lead the design and implementation of data integration solutions, including batch/ETL, real-time streaming, and API-led integrations.
• Provide strategic thinking and solutions to assess current technology states and identify gaps.
• Capture future state technology vision in actionable roadmaps.
• Lead the adoption of cloud data technologies while ensuring minimal disruption to critical data applications.
• Develop and enforce policies around data quality, security, retention, and stewardship.
• Act as an expert technical resource and influence teams across multiple initiatives.
