About the position

As a GIS subject matter expert at Esri, you will leverage your problem-solving skills to advise local government customers on complex business challenges, utilizing GIS technology to identify unique patterns and trends. Your role will involve building relationships, presenting solutions, and demonstrating the value of GIS in addressing critical challenges faced by customers.

Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with customers and support the account team in executing sales strategies.
  • Become a subject matter expert in state and local government and a technical expert in ArcGIS.
  • Proactively craft and propose GIS solutions that address customer challenges and demonstrate business value.
  • Present technical demonstrations of proposed solutions to both technical and non-technical customers.
  • Design and deliver presentations and provide best practices for the use and deployment of Esri technology.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience with Esri technology, including creating maps and performing spatial analysis.
  • 1+ years of experience working in or supporting state or local government.
  • Understanding of ArcGIS from an IT context, including hardware, storage, security, and networking.
  • Experience in technical consulting and conceptual solution design, with knowledge of sales and business development processes.
  • Experience with geodatabases and underlying DBMS technology.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing concepts and environments, such as Microsoft Azure or AWS.
  • Strong presentation, interpersonal, and listening skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically or internationally 25-50%.
  • Bachelor's degree in geography, computer science, or a related field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to troubleshoot client issues related to Esri application deployment and system architecture.
  • Experience integrating software solutions with other business systems, including data warehousing and analytics platforms.
  • Experience incorporating real-time information streams with existing GIS data and IT infrastructure.
  • Basic understanding of artificial intelligence/machine learning concepts.
  • Programming and scripting experience with languages such as Python and JavaScript.
  • Master's degree in geography, computer science, or a related field.
