About the position

As a Solutions Engineer at Siemens, you will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between technology and business within the Electrification and Automation (EA) Business Unit. This position is based in Wendell, NC, and involves a comprehensive range of responsibilities that encompass technical expertise, solution design, and customer engagement. You will be responsible for realizing the functional concept of solutions in projects by developing detailed technical solutions that meet customer specifications. This includes defining the products, components, and systems to be used, configuring these components according to project requirements, and ensuring that all elements interact as a functioning unit. Your role will also involve preparing design documentation and possibly directing executing units such as manufacturing and logistics. Quality assurance is a key aspect of your responsibilities, as you will ensure that solutions meet quality standards, scalability, and performance requirements. Staying abreast of industry trends and evaluating their impact on designs will be crucial, particularly in relation to medium and low voltage networks, including MV Switchgear, Motor starters, Low Voltage MCC, Switchboards, LV switchgear, Transformers, and Protection and Automation functionality. In addition to technical responsibilities, you will engage with customers during pre-sales activities, collaborating with sales and offer teams to present solutions and participate in technical discussions. Post-sales, you will ensure successful implementation and customer satisfaction, providing updates to senior management on solution engineering initiatives, progress, and challenges. Risk management will also be part of your role, as you will identify and mitigate risks related to solution delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Realize the functional concept of solutions in a project by developing detailed technical solutions.
  • Define the products, components, and systems to be used and their specific characteristics.
  • Configure the components and systems of the solution according to project requirements.
  • Develop detailed solutions for integration to ensure the interaction of individual elements as a functioning unit.
  • Prepare design documentation and ensure the realization of the solution with the required functionality.
  • Ensure solutions meet quality standards, scalability, and performance requirements.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and evaluate their impact on designs.
  • Collaborate with sales and offer teams during pre-sales activities, including solution presentations and technical discussions.
  • Ensure successful implementation and customer satisfaction post-sales.
  • Provide updates to senior management on solution engineering initiatives, progress, and challenges.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to solution delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of experience and education; P.E. license preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in a similar role in engineering or a related technical role.
  • Preferred experience with field service and turnkey projects in medium voltage, low voltage, process automation, drives, and inverter applications.
  • Proven leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities.
  • Knowledge of software applications such as SieOps (Salesforce), Autodesk suite, SKM, Etap, PSS/E or DE, and Microsoft Office.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Siemens LV & MV solutions.
  • Knowledge of NEC, IBC, IFC codes and application of LV and MV systems.
