About the position

As a GIS subject matter expert at Esri, you will play a pivotal role in identifying the right analysis tools for various business challenges faced by state and local government clients. Your expertise will not only involve creating innovative GIS solutions but also effectively communicating the value of these solutions to inspire and engage others. You will join an account team dedicated to advising customers on their most complex business challenges, leveraging your problem-solving skills to demonstrate how GIS technology can uncover unique patterns and trends that drive understanding and decision-making. In this position, you will build strong relationships with clients, presenting and demonstrating Esri software and solutions as part of a collaborative account team. Your role will require you to become a subject matter expert in state and local government operations, as well as a technical expert in ArcGIS. You will confidently engage with customers, articulating the Esri message and anticipating their needs while staying informed about technology trends that may impact their operations. Your responsibilities will also include proactively crafting and proposing solutions that clarify how GIS can bring significant business value to our customers. You will define and deliver strategies that align Esri technology with the specific business challenges faced by clients. Additionally, you will present technical demonstrations of proposed solutions, design presentations tailored for both technical and non-technical audiences, and share best practices related to the use, deployment, and administration of Esri technology. Opportunities to present at conferences and trade shows will also be part of your role, allowing you to showcase the innovative solutions developed by Esri.

Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with clients and support the account team in planning and executing sales strategies.
  • Present, demonstrate, and support the selling of Esri software and solutions.
  • Become a subject matter expert in state and local government and a technical expert in ArcGIS.
  • Communicate confidently with customers about Esri technologies and anticipate their needs.
  • Proactively craft and propose solutions that demonstrate the business value of GIS.
  • Define and deliver strategies that align Esri technology with customer business challenges.
  • Present technical demonstrations of proposed solutions to customers.
  • Design presentations for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Provide best practices related to the use, deployment, and administration of Esri technology.
  • Present at conferences and trade shows.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience with Esri technology creating maps, performing spatial analysis, and configuring web applications.
  • 1+ years of experience working in or supporting state or local government.
  • Understanding of ArcGIS from an IT context, including hardware, storage, security, networking, web services, virtualization, and cloud computing.
  • Experience in technical consulting and conceptual solution design, with an understanding of sales and business development processes.
  • Experience with geodatabases and underlying DBMS technology.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing concepts and environments, such as Microsoft Azure or AWS.
  • Remarkable presentation, interpersonal, and listening skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically or internationally 25-50%.
  • Bachelor's degree in geography, computer science, or a related field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to troubleshoot client issues related to Esri application deployment and system architecture.
  • Experience integrating software solutions with other business systems, including data warehousing, BI, CRM, ERP, and analytics platforms.
  • Experience incorporating real-time information streams with existing GIS data and IT infrastructure.
  • Basic understanding of artificial intelligence/machine learning concepts.
  • Programming and scripting experience with languages such as Python and JavaScript.
  • Master's degree in geography, computer science, or a related field.
