About the position

The IT department is diverse and innovative, emphasizing patient care, community needs, clinician support, and quality outcomes. The Interface Engineer plays a crucial role in the analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance of Workday, HL7, and other system integration functions. This position is vital for ensuring seamless integration between clinical and business applications, enhancing the overall efficiency of the healthcare system. As an Interface Engineer, you will lead integration activities, working closely with analysts and vendors to plan and design interfaces that meet project scopes and objectives. Your responsibilities will include configuring and managing Workday and HL7 systems, gathering requirements, performing interface design and programming, and developing specifications for data transfer between systems. You will also be involved in testing and troubleshooting operational interfaces, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory guidelines. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying improvements and enhancements to integration systems, maintaining technical proficiencies, and providing oversight for programming services. You will collaborate with System and Application Analysts to resolve system and application performance issues, ensuring that the integration solutions align with the strategic goals of SolutionHealth.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, install, manage, and maintain Workday, HL7, ADT, and/or other interface/integration systems as assigned by the Integration Manager.
  • Lead requirement gathering and consult with customers, analysts, and vendors to identify current operating procedures and interface specifications.
  • Perform interface design, programming, upgrades, testing, and implementation of existing and new Workday and/or HL7 interfaces.
  • Develop interface specifications for Workday and the interface engine to translate, transform, and archive HL7 and/or Workday messages.
  • Understand interface transactions and recommend solutions to improve integration and workflow processes.
  • Develop and implement accurate integration specifications and standards enterprise-wide.
  • Participate in testing and issue resolution of new interfaces, applications, and upgrades.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot complex issues for all operational interfaces.
  • Maintain technical proficiencies on the operating system and current programming languages and tools.
  • Work with System and Application Analysts to troubleshoot system, program, and database problems.
  • Provide oversight and quality assurance for programming services provided by vendors or consultants.
  • Maintain appropriate security for assigned systems in accordance with HIPAA and regulatory guidelines.
  • Identify improvements and enhancements to assigned systems and maintain an annual strategic plan.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Vendor required certification in good standing for applications/modules supported, or proficiency if accepted by the vendor.
  • A minimum of three to five (3-5) years of experience in Information Technology or a comparable field supporting HL7, Workday, and/or integrated systems required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of IT experience implementing systems in a multi-vendor healthcare environment preferred.
  • Industry-standard certifications such as HL7, EDI, JavaScript, EPIC Bridges, Rhapsody.
