About the position

The Solution Train Engineer at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond plays a crucial role in facilitating and guiding the work of Agile Release Trains (ARTs) and suppliers within the Value Stream. This position is responsible for aligning the flow of value through the organization, ensuring exceptional capabilities and solutions for customers, and supporting the ongoing transformation to the SAFe/Agile Framework. The role involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including Release Train Engineers and executive leadership, to determine strategic direction and tactical implementation.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate synchronization across the Solution Train by conducting regular syncs involving Solution Management, Solution Architects, Product Management, RTEs, and other necessary stakeholders.
• Ensure frequent solution integration by confirming the ARTs are progressing towards their goals and understanding the importance of solution integration.
• Establish release coordination activities by creating a rhythm of release activities within and across the ARTs.
• Facilitate the Solution Train-level Planning by engaging with all relevant stakeholders and ARTs.
• Ensure visibility and effective interactions using ceremonies and tools that facilitate speedy responses to impediments.
• Connect ARTs with the right stakeholders to ensure they have everything needed to plan and work effectively.
• Establish Solution Train flow measures to reveal solution development and delivery performance.
• Assist ARTs with connecting to their customers to ensure customer input is aggregated at a higher level.
• Assist organizational leadership with alignment of the ARTs to the Value Stream and continuous improvement of ways of working.
• Apply risk management discipline in decision making.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree/Master's Degree preferred or equivalent experience as a Sr Release Train Engineer or Solution Train Engineer with a minimum of 9+ years Agile methodology experience in a large enterprise environment.
• Completion of all Agile and SAFe certification during their career, including Leading SAFe, Certified Agile Leadership for Organizations, and Certified Enterprise Coach.
• Expert knowledge in Product Management, Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Continuous Delivery.
• General knowledge of department/business lines, Reserve Banks, and/or System operations, policies, procedures, and technologies.
• Experience with Continuous Improvement methodologies, e.g., Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis, Value Stream Mapping.
• Exceptional organizational and communication skills, creativity, attention to detail, and negotiation skills.

• Demonstrable mastery in various competencies of Teaching, Mentoring, Transformation, and Facilitation.
• Experience in coaching Release Train Engineers and Product Management.
