About the position

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Solutions Architect to lead the adoption of AWS technologies within the aerospace industry. This role encompasses a variety of segments including launch services, human spaceflight, robotic and autonomous systems, mission control center operations, space stations, satellite constellations, and ground segment operations. The Solutions Architect will play a pivotal role in shaping a growing sector of our business, engaging with customers and partners to drive technical engagement and support the development of innovative solutions. In this position, you will be responsible for owning the technical engagement with customers and partners in the Aerospace and Satellite Solutions domain. This includes supporting the creation of technical blueprints, architectures, and quick start templates that facilitate rapid solution development. You will also enable prototype and pilot project development in collaboration with business development discussions, coordinate new service and product feature requests with AWS product teams, and provide technical assistance for projects managed by customers and partners. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in software and network engineering, systems design, cloud and distributed computing, or have relevant experience in the space and aerospace industry. Strong business and customer-facing skills are essential for success in this role, as you will be expected to provide architectural guidance and recommendations that promote successful engagements with customers and partners. Your contributions will help AWS position itself as the preferred cloud provider in the aerospace sector, driving innovation and efficiency in space operations.

Responsibilities

• Provide architectural guidance and recommendations to promote successful customer/partner engagements.
• Ideate new managed services streams and unique solutions that position AWS as their cloud provider.
• Assist solution providers with technical strategies to enhance their offerings on the AWS platform.
• Build proof-of-concepts, execute POCs, and develop solutions including testing, documentation, and training.
• Write reference architectures and configuration guides; develop courses and training materials.
• Capture and share best-practice knowledge with the broader Solution Architect community.
• Share partner and customer feedback with internal product management and engineering teams to influence AWS's future direction.
• Capture and share best-practice knowledge for deploying, running, and managing solutions on AWS with AWS communities.

Requirements

• 2+ years of design, implementation, or consulting experience in applications and infrastructures.
• 2+ years of experience in specific technology domains such as software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, or data & analytics.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working within software development or Internet-related industries.
• Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud.
• Experience working with AWS technologies from a dev/ops perspective.
• 5+ years of Information Technology (IT) experience.
