About the position

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Solutions Architect to drive the adoption of AWS within the aerospace industry, which includes segments such as launch services, human spaceflight, robotic/autonomous systems, mission control center operations, space stations, satellite constellations, ground segment operations, emergency response services, IoT, geospatial, imagery, broadcast communications, and various government capabilities. This role is an exciting opportunity to help define a growing and thriving part of our business, where you will engage with customers and partners to provide architectural guidance and recommendations necessary for successful engagements. In this position, you will own the technical engagement with Aerospace and Satellite Solutions' customers and partners. Your responsibilities will include supporting the development of technical blueprints, architectures, and quick start templates to accelerate solution development. You will also enable prototype and pilot project development in concert with business development discussions, coordinate new service/product feature requests with AWS product teams, and assist technically in projects owned by customers and partners. If you possess deep technical skills in software/network engineering, systems design, cloud/distributed computing, or have experience in the space/aerospace industry, along with strong business and customer-facing skills, we would love to speak with you. Your role will involve ideating new managed services streams and unique solutions that position AWS as the preferred cloud provider. You will assist solution providers with technical strategies that will enable them to sell more of their offerings on the AWS platform. Additionally, you will be responsible for building proof-of-concepts, executing POCs, solution development (including testing, documentation, and training), and device certification if required. Writing reference architectures and configuration guides, developing courses and training, and capturing and sharing best-practice knowledge with our broader Solution Architect community will also be key components of your role. You will share partner and customer feedback with internal product management and engineering teams to help drive the future of AWS, and capture and share best-practice knowledge for deploying, running, and managing solutions on AWS with AWS communities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide architectural guidance and recommendations for successful customer/partner engagements.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience.
  • 2+ years of specific technology domain areas experience (e.g., software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics).
  • 5+ years of Information Technology (IT) experience.
  • Experience working within software development or Internet-related industries.
  • Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud.
  • Experience working with AWS technologies from a dev/ops perspective.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the aerospace industry or with space exploration and satellites.
  • Strong business/customer-facing skills.
