About the position

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a highly motivated Solutions Architect to help accelerate our growing U.S. Federal Civilian Government business. As a Solutions Architect within AWS, you will have the opportunity to help shape and deliver on a strategy to advance our customer's mission through the use of AWS services (e.g. Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, Amazon RDS, HPC, etc.) You will accomplish this as part of a cross-functional team working together in support of the VA's mission, with strong sense of building art of possible proof of concepts (PoCs) to solve customer's problems. The Solutions Architects on our team provide exceptional technical design and thought leadership to the Federal Civilian Government markets while working with a sales and business development team. They lead efforts to capture and share best-practice knowledge among the AWS solution architect community. You get to learn from, collaborate with, and educate some of the brightest technical minds in the industry today across the breadth of enterprise architecture!

Responsibilities

  • Owning the technical engagement and technical strategy with our customers.
  • Building art of possible proof of concepts (PoCs) to solve customer's problems.
  • Defining implementation architectures, responding to RFPs, developing a deep expertise both in AWS technologies, as well as the customer mission space.
  • Being a subject matter expert on security as it relates to customer applications and services.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
  • 4+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
  • 6+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience
  • Knowledge of cloud architecture

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working within software development or Internet-related industries
  • Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud
  • Experience working with AWS technologies from a dev/ops perspective
