About the position

The Solutions Architect role at Amazon Web Services (AWS) focuses on assisting the U.S. Department of Defense in implementing innovative cloud computing solutions. This position involves engaging with customers to define implementation architectures, respond to RFPs, and develop expertise in AWS technologies. The role emphasizes networking and security, requiring a deep understanding of how applications and services are constructed using the AWS platform. The Solutions Architect will also lead efforts to share best practices within the AWS community and work closely with a sales and business development team to meet customer needs in the Defense sector.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical engagement and success of specific implementation projects.
  • Define implementation architectures and respond to RFPs.
  • Develop deep expertise in AWS technologies and applications.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on networking and security for customer applications.
  • Capture and share best-practice knowledge within the AWS solution architect community.
  • Collaborate with sales and business development teams to meet customer needs.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of design, implementation, or consulting experience in applications and infrastructures.
  • 6+ years of experience in specific technology domains such as software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, or data & analytics.
  • 4+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting experience in the software or Internet industries.
  • Current, active U.S. Government Security Clearance of Top Secret or above.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working within software development or Internet-related industries.
  • Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud.
  • Experience in technology/software sales, pre-sales, or consulting.
  • 3-5 years of experience with Networking, including BGP AS architecture and route manipulation.
