About the position

The Solutions Architect - Mobile at Empower plays a critical role in aligning technology solutions with business strategies. This position involves collaboration with both business and IT teams to develop technology strategies, reference architectures, and best practices. The Architect will also engage with the Empower Innovation Lab to explore emerging technologies, ensuring that solutions are scalable, efficient, and aligned with the company's vision for financial transformation.

Responsibilities

• Help Sr. and Enterprise Architects define and execute the business-aligned IT strategy and vision.
• Develop, document, and provide input into the technology roadmap for Empower Retirement and Great West Financial.
• Create Reference Architectures demonstrating an understanding of technology components and their relationships.
• Leverage knowledge of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and microservices to deliver scalable solutions.
• Maintain high skill levels in application deployment models like SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS.
• Ensure IT understands how to leverage integration protocols and technologies such as REST and API Gateways.
• Design and modernize systems into cloud-compatible or cloud-native applications.
• Evaluate new applications and technical options, creating solid business cases and influencing direction.
• Stay current with updates from Apple and Google, collaborating on architecture and design issues.
• Communicate the return-on-investment for adopting new mobile technology.
• Provide thought leadership and maintenance of the Enterprise Architecture discipline.
• Work cross-functionally to push scalable solutions across multiple platforms.
• Create platform-appropriate solutions, embracing the idea that one size does not fit all.
• Optimize the mobile CI/CD pipeline and utilize the latest development tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in software systems development and delivery.
• 3+ years of experience creating solution architectures across multiple domains and platforms.
• Client-side development experience for iOS and/or Android.
• Experience with modern deployment models using Jenkins and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficient with source code version control (GitHub/GitLab/BitBucket).
• Knowledge of architectural cross-cutting concerns and their tradeoffs.
• Competency in applying architecture frameworks and development methods.
• Knowledge of data modeling, security patterns, and integration methods.
• Experience with DevOps processes and tools.
• Understanding of business process analysis and management (BPM).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrates continuous learning of new technologies.
• Self-motivated and thrives in a team environment.
• Financial industry expertise preferred.
• Good understanding of horizontal elastic scaling on cloud.
• Experience with high throughput, high concurrency distributed systems.
• Understanding of machine learning algorithms and AI model architectures.
