About the position

The Solutions Architect - Wireless is a senior role responsible for developing and maintaining the high-level design plan for the overall logical and technical network architecture, primarily focused on network technologies. This position involves strategic planning, operational management, and architectural consulting to ensure that network capacity meets current and future requirements while maintaining compliance with company standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement short- and long-term strategic plans for network capacity.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures for network resource administration.
  • Develop and deploy methodologies for testing network performance and providing statistics and reports.
  • Provide architectural consulting expertise to Network Analysts, Engineers, Administrators, and other Architects.
  • Conduct research on emerging technologies and recommend cost-effective solutions.
  • Develop and communicate plans for investing in network technologies and analyze cost reduction opportunities.
  • Participate in the development of network strategies with the executive team.
  • Conduct research and make recommendations on products, services, protocols, and standards for network procurement.
  • Ensure network services meet service level agreements with business units.
  • Create and maintain documentation related to network configuration and processes.
  • Plan, acquire, and coordinate installation of wireless devices across the network.
  • Design company wireless networks including Controllers, Access Points, and Monitoring Solutions.
  • Participate in negotiations with vendors for network products and services.
  • Review network design projects for compliance with standards and architectural plans.
  • Establish and maintain communication with executives and stakeholders regarding network activities.
  • Lead and administrate a team of network administrators and engineers.
  • Collaborate with management to define business requirements for network development.
  • Manage priorities for architectural design and maintenance of network infrastructures.
  • Ensure compliance of network devices with company standards.
  • Define and maintain SOPs and quality standards.
  • Conduct feasibility studies for upgrade projects and improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and policies.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of overall enterprise IT experience.
  • 10+ years experience in strategic network architectural design and operational excellence.
  • Strong technical expertise in WLAN / RF technologies.
  • Knowledge of Ekahau wireless site survey software or similar.
  • Experience in a Global Regulated Organization with complex enterprise network environments.
  • Subject Matter Expert in Cisco wireless technologies including 5508, 2504, 9800 controllers, and 9100 Access Points.
  • Experience with Cisco ISE, 802.1X, Cisco Prime Infrastructure, Cisco DNA Center, and Cisco Spaces.
  • Knowledge of system flow charts, traffic flow, and data processing concepts.
  • Understanding of data privacy practices and laws.
  • Experience with network capacity planning and wireless management best practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert) preferred.
  • ITIL certification is a plus.
