About the position

SAIC is seeking a Solutions Architect to support the Department of Defense (DoD) Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) in Alexandria, VA. This remote position involves comprehensive systems engineering activities, including system architecture design, cloud infrastructure management, and ensuring compliance with DoD security standards. The role requires expertise in cloud technologies, particularly Microsoft Azure, and involves leading the design and implementation of secure cloud environments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive systems engineering activities, including the formulation of Concept of Operations (CONOPS) and defining system requirements.
  • Lead system architecture design and conduct system analysis.
  • Design interface and data architectures, ensuring validation, verification, and seamless system integration.
  • Manage system operational performance analysis and lifecycle cost estimation.
  • Conduct decision analysis to optimize system functionality and efficiency across its lifecycle.
  • Implement, manage, and maintain cloud environments using orchestration tools.
  • Design, deploy, manage, and secure cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure.
  • Lead the containerization of applications and deploy them on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
  • Manage and troubleshoot applications across Linux and Windows environments in Azure cloud.
  • Design and implement Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) models for continuous verification of identities, devices, and networks.
  • Administer IAM policies and security controls using Microsoft Entra ID and Azure RBAC.
  • Lead cloud environment design, testing, and quality assurance to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the migration of on-premises systems to the cloud, focusing on security and performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree and three (3) years of relevant experience; or 4 years of additional experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Active Secret clearance (US Citizenship required).
  • Expertise in using Azure CLI, ARM Templates, Ansible, Terraform, and Terragrunt.
  • Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in designing, deploying, managing, and securing cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure.
  • Proficiency in services such as Virtual Machines, Azure Functions, App Services, Blob Storage, SQL Database, etc.
  • Experience with application containerization and deployment on AKS and Azure App Services.
  • Strong understanding and practical experience in implementing Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA).
  • In-depth knowledge of IAM for Azure, including Microsoft Entra ID, Azure RBAC, and MFA.
