About the position

The Senior Solutions Architect plays a critical role in supporting the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment by delivering technology-driven services to statewide customers. This position involves leading projects that require a deep understanding of technology architecture and innovation to provide scalable solutions to complex business problems. The architect will collaborate with various stakeholders to interpret business requirements and recommend technical solutions, ensuring alignment with the agency's mission and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and support of OIT Applications solutions.
  • Provide technology leadership by architecting, prototyping, and recommending technical solutions for business issues.
  • Interpret business, technical, regulatory, and architectural requirements to recommend solutions.
  • Coordinate and monitor OIT technologies for capacity planning and integration planning.
  • Work with security staff to implement application security controls across all applications development areas.
  • Establish standards and disciplined techniques for technical activities.
  • Develop estimates of teamwork effort needed to deliver application solutions based on project specifications.
  • Interface with vendor technology/solutions throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Advise stakeholders to ensure timely and innovative infrastructure support for agency strategies.
  • Assign team members to projects based on skill set and experience required.
  • Participate in architecture, design, and code reviews.
  • Lead brainstorming sessions for process improvements.
  • Mentor and coach other OIT architecture staff to ensure quality solutions.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in solution architecture and infrastructure management.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and mentor teams.
  • Proficiency in interpreting business requirements and translating them into technical specifications.
  • Experience with capacity planning, data modeling, and integration planning.
  • Knowledge of application security controls and best practices.
  • Ability to develop and implement enterprise technology standards.
