About the position

The Senior Solutions Architect plays a critical role in leading technology initiatives and projects that involve major applications within the organization. This position is responsible for leveraging technology and innovation to provide scalable solutions to complex business problems, collaborating with various functional groups, and presenting technical solutions to business executives. The role requires a blend of technical expertise and leadership to ensure the effective delivery of technology-driven services to statewide customers.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of technical solutions to solve complex multi-dimensional problems.
• Perform advisory duties associated with the design, implementation, and support of OIT Applications solutions.
• Provide technology leadership by architecting, prototyping, and recommending technical solutions for business issues.
• Interpret business, technical, regulatory, and architectural requirements to recommend solutions.
• Review release notes and technical documentation for accuracy in collaboration with development areas.
• Coordinate OIT technologies for capacity planning, data modeling, and integration planning.
• Implement application security controls in collaboration with CISO staff.
• Establish standards and techniques for technical activities with CTO staff.
• Estimate teamwork effort needed for application solutions and report progress to management.
• Interface with vendor technology/solutions throughout the project lifecycle.
• Engage with key stakeholders to ensure infrastructure and services align with agency strategies and OIT roadmaps.
• Assign team members to projects based on required skill sets.
• Participate in architecture, design, and code reviews.
• Translate business objectives into functional solutions and lead brainstorming sessions for process improvements.
• Mentor and coach other architecture staff to ensure quality delivery of solutions.

Requirements

• Proven experience in solution architecture and technical leadership.
• Strong understanding of enterprise architecture principles and best practices.
• Ability to interpret complex business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Experience with capacity planning, data modeling, and integration planning.
• Knowledge of application security controls and standards.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills for engaging with business executives and stakeholders.
• Experience in mentoring and coaching technical staff.
