About the position

As a Solutions Engineer in Business Intelligence at GXO, you will play a crucial role in optimizing logistics operations by identifying facility design and personnel requirements. Your responsibilities will include developing work instructions, updating standard operating procedures, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement engineered solutions that enhance operational quality. This position is pivotal in supporting both short-term improvements and long-term strategic plans for our global customers.

Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation of proposals for new business opportunities by identifying potential locations and facilities.
  • Analyze the receiving, inventory, and fulfillment data within proposals to estimate activity level.
  • Engineer facility, equipment layouts, staffing requirements, processes and flows.
  • Identify facility upfits and equipment requirements.
  • Work closely with operations and other cross functional teams to identify, develop, and implement engineered solutions to improve the overall quality of the operation.
  • Manage and develop advanced analytical tools to support both operations and key stakeholders.
  • Support operational and process improvement projects for current operations as needed.
  • Support short-term improvements while also contributing to the success of long-term strategic plans.
  • Work alongside operations personnel to execute specific engineering efforts.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers from a diverse set of teams.
  • Continuously explore new tools and approaches to provide the end user with the most accurate, timely, and up-to-date information with a focus on end user experience.
  • Assist with the development of engineered solutions; conduct pilot programs, simulations, sprints, and time studies.
  • Represent your solutions to senior management and clients.
  • Create and maintain standard work instructions across multiple processes as they evolve over time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military experience
  • 1 year of related work experience
  • Ability to perform complex analysis of data, processes, policies, procedures and/or systems.
  • Knowledge in analyzing large, complex, multidimensional datasets with query languages (SQL)
  • Understanding of best practices and principles in SQL, query design, data validation/automation and research functions
  • Understanding of data warehouse concepts and using logical data models to document and explain business objectives.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with analytical tools such as flow charts, Pareto charts, cause and effect diagrams, run charts, etc.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of BI tools (MicroStrategy, PowerBI, Tableau, etc.)
  • Understanding of basic programming concepts and languages (Python, Java, Scala, HTML, C++, C#, etc.)
  • Provide end-to-end solutions and own the development, enhancement, and maintenance of the deliverables.
  • Exceptional data management and SQL Skills
  • Ability to present clean, organized and thorough information and data appropriate for intended audience.
