About the position

The Solutions Engineer, Sales Support at Harris Local Government plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between technical solutions and client needs. This position requires a dynamic individual who can work closely with Sales Directors and VPs to create and deliver engaging presentations and product demonstrations that resonate with both technical and non-technical audiences. The Solutions Engineer will lead all product demonstrations, acting as the subject matter expert during client calls and in-person meetings, ensuring that the solutions offered align with the specific needs of local government entities. In addition to delivering presentations, the Solutions Engineer will be responsible for managing the Request for Proposal (RFP) response process. This involves collaborating cross-functionally to complete all sections of client RFPs and RFIs, ensuring that all responses are comprehensive and tailored to the client's requirements. The role also requires a partnership with the Product Development and User Interface Design Teams to maintain and enhance the company's sales demo instances, keeping them up-to-date with the latest product releases and ensuring they present the best possible image to potential clients. The Solutions Engineer will work closely with Product Management to translate marketplace requirements into actionable product enhancements. This requires a deep understanding of local government financial solutions, metrics, and trends, allowing the Solutions Engineer to effectively communicate how the company's offerings can strategically fit the needs of clients. The position demands a self-starter who is highly organized and capable of managing multiple complex sales opportunities simultaneously, all while delivering value propositions to senior staff within large customer organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Work in tandem with Sales Directors and VPs to develop and deliver compelling presentations and product demonstrations.
  • Lead all product demos and serve as the product subject matter expert on client calls and in-person meetings.
  • Own and manage the RFP response process and work cross-functionally to complete all sections of client RFP/RFIs.
  • Partner with the Product Development and User Interface Design Teams to maintain and enhance the company's sales demo instances.
  • Work closely with Product Management to distill marketplace requirements into product enhancements.
  • Effectively represent the company and its products to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements

  • A BS/BA Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years of client-facing experience with a track record of quickly becoming an expert on solutions and use cases.
  • Strong presentation skills, written and verbal communication skills, and technical aptitude.
  • Ability to manage multiple, complex sales opportunities simultaneously.
  • Self-starter, highly organized, with the ability to work in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to deliver value propositions to customers' senior staff and navigate key functions within large customer organizations.
  • Understanding of industry terminology, with an overview of CRM solutions.
  • Empathetic listening skills, ability to ask probing questions, and clear communication to control a large audience.
  • Team player who can provide executive-level quality presentations with Sales.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with local government financial solutions.
  • Familiarity with MS Office tools, including PowerPoint.
