About the position

The Solutions Engineer role at Buckman focuses on delivering application excellence to customers in the water and utilities sector through trial execution and advanced attrition prevention. This position collaborates closely with the sales team to identify new business opportunities, provide technical expertise, and effectively communicate the value of Buckman's offerings. The role requires maintaining competitive market knowledge and acting as a trusted advisor to customers.

Responsibilities

  • Execute trials on-site and manage the lifecycle of the trial from setup to value confirmation with the customer.
  • Participate in the development of solutions to enhance customer process performance.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and assist in upskilling frontline sales teams.
  • Deliver technical expertise on complex challenges and critical applications to mitigate attrition risk.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of Buckman's product portfolio, including new products from the R&D pipeline.
  • Support health checks with customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Pulp & Paper, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Biology (Pulp & Paper degree preferred).
  • 5+ years of proven sales record or related experience/training.
  • Demonstrated experience in problem-solving using multiple analytical procedures.
  • Successful selling record in chemical sales is desired.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to make clear and persuasive presentations.

Nice-to-haves

  • 10+ years of proven sales track record.
  • 10+ years of experience in the chemical or pulp and paper industry.
  • Solid understanding of smart digital solutions and ability to identify customer opportunities.
  • Experience in Six Sigma and Lean methodologies.
