About the position

As a Solutions Engineer at Cisco, you will play a pivotal role in the pre-sales process, partnering closely with Account Executives to showcase Cisco's innovative product solutions. Your primary responsibilities will include setting up demonstrations, articulating the features and benefits of our products to customers, and designing and configuring solutions tailored to meet specific customer needs. As a trusted technical adviser, you will be expected to act consultatively, guiding both the account team and customers through the complexities of our offerings. Staying informed about relevant competitor solutions, products, and services will be essential to maintain a competitive edge. Additionally, you will assist in the development of formal sales plans and proposals for assigned opportunities, actively participating as a specialist on assigned Virtual Teams. Your consultative support will be invaluable to other Systems Engineers, fostering a collaborative environment where knowledge and expertise are shared to achieve common goals. Responsibilities

  • Partner with Account Executives in a pre-sales technical role.
  • Showcase Cisco product solutions by setting up demonstrations and explaining features and benefits to customers.
  • Design and configure products to meet specific customer needs.
  • Collaborate with the Account Manager to recommend and develop customer solution offerings.
  • Provide an architectural perspective across the Cisco product portfolio.
  • Act as a trusted technical adviser to the account team and customers.
  • Stay up-to-date on relevant competitors' solutions, products, and services.
  • Assist with the development of formal sales plans and proposals for assigned opportunities.
  • Participate as a specialist on assigned Virtual Teams and provide consultative support to other Systems Engineers.

Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong listening, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Confirmed technical knowledge and consultative skills.
  • 4+ years of related experience preferred (less will be considered).
  • Cisco product experience or relevant experience in key competitor offerings in technology area of emphasis required.
  • Pre-Sales experience required.
  • Typically requires a BS/BA in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent work experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of baseline SE skills and in-depth knowledge in at least one specialization in Data Center, Collaboration, Security, or Route/Switch/Wireless.
  • Understanding of relevant solutions sets, product line specifications, performance criteria, and applications.
  • Conversant about company, competitors, technologies, solutions, product strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
