About the position

As a Solutions Engineer at Cisco, you will play a pivotal role in transforming the way businesses connect and operate through innovative technology solutions. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about technology and customer experience, and who thrive in a collaborative environment. You will work closely with Account Executives in a pre-sales technical capacity, where your primary responsibility will be to showcase Cisco's product solutions. This includes setting up demonstrations, explaining features and benefits to customers, and designing and configuring products to meet specific customer needs. In this role, you will have access to a wide array of Cisco technologies and applications across various vertical markets. You will collaborate with the Account Manager to recommend and develop tailored customer solution offerings, providing an architectural perspective across the Cisco product portfolio. Your technical specialization will be invaluable as you act as a trusted technical adviser to both the account team and customers, guiding them through the complexities of Cisco's offerings. Staying informed about competitors' solutions, products, and services will be crucial as you assist in developing formal sales plans and proposals for assigned opportunities. You will also actively participate as a specialist on the assigned Virtual Team, providing consultative support in your area of expertise to other Systems Engineers. This role is not just about selling; it's about building relationships and ensuring that customers receive the best possible solutions to meet their needs.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Account Executives in a pre-sales technical role to showcase Cisco product solutions.
  • Set up demonstrations and explain features and benefits to customers.
  • Design and configure products to meet specific customer needs.
  • Collaborate with the Account Manager to recommend and develop customer solution offerings.
  • Provide an architectural perspective across the Cisco product portfolio.
  • Act as a trusted technical adviser to the account team and customers.
  • Keep up-to-date on relevant competitors' solutions, products, and services.
  • Assist with the development of formal sales plans and proposals for assigned opportunities.
  • Participate as a specialist on the assigned Virtual Team and provide consultative support to other Systems Engineers.

Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, listening, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Confirmed technical knowledge and consultative skills.
  • 4+ years of related experience.
  • Cisco product experience or relevant experience in key competitor offerings in the technology area of emphasis required.
  • Pre-Sales experience required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of baseline SE skills and in-depth knowledge in at least one specialization in Data Center, Collaboration, Security, or Route/Switch/Wireless.
  • Understanding of relevant solutions sets, product line specifications, performance criteria, and applications.
  • Conversant about company, competitors, technologies, solutions, product strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
