About the position

The Solutions Engineering Director for Select & Territory at Verkada is a pivotal role that involves leading and developing high-performing Solutions Engineering teams within the Salt Lake City office. This position is not hybrid or remote, emphasizing the importance of onsite collaboration. The director will report directly to the VP of Solutions Engineering and will be responsible for fostering an inclusive and engaged team environment. The ideal candidate will be a proven technical leader with a strong entrepreneurial spirit, capable of navigating complex technical solutions and providing mentorship to team members. In this role, the director will act as a technical coach and problem solver, assisting with technical escalations and ensuring that the team is equipped to handle various challenges. The director will also be tasked with identifying gaps within the team and taking the initiative to build out programs and processes that support the Solutions Engineering team. Collaboration is key, as the director will work cross-functionally with departments such as sales, product, support, enablement, and marketing to drive improvements and enhance communication. Additionally, the director will champion the career development of team members through coaching, mentoring, and enablement initiatives. The position requires a travel commitment of 30-40% per quarter, reflecting the need for the director to engage with clients and stakeholders in various locations. Responsibilities

  • Hire, develop and lead an inclusive, engaged, and high performing Select & Territory Solutions Engineering teams (L1 & L2)
  • Act as a technical coach, mentor, and problem solver for the team, assisting with technical escalations
  • Identify gaps and take ownership to build out programs and processes in support of the SE team
  • Work cross-functionally to drive improvements and increase communication and collaboration across departments such as sales, product, support, enablement, and marketing
  • Develop and grow the team's skillset through coaching, mentoring, and enablement initiatives

Requirements

  • Demonstrated leadership success as a technical presales Director for the last 3+ years within a similar company (L2+) preferred
  • Experience working at a cloud and network infrastructure focused company with hardware/software exposure required
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Networking, Information Technology, Information & Computer Technology, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, IT Security or similar from an accredited university
  • Proven track record in leading high performing sales engineering teams and working closely with sales teams and product teams
  • Experience building and scaling technical pre-sales teams
