About the position
Peasant Restaurant is seeking a dedicated Sommelier to enhance the dining experience by providing expert wine knowledge and service. The role involves educating staff, managing wine inventory, and ensuring guests receive exceptional service through perfect wine pairings with their meals. The ideal candidate will have a passion for Italian wines and a commitment to the restaurant's tradition of excellence.
Responsibilities
- Work with the front of the house team to educate staff on wine and service techniques.
- Develop a training program for team members to improve their wine knowledge and service skills.
- Assist guests with wine recommendations and selections for meal pairings.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date beverage lists.
- Manage wine inventory and stock products, including lifting and moving 40-pound boxes.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Beverage Director or General Manager.
- Ensure proper grooming and professional appearance.
Requirements
- 1 year of experience in a similar role.
- 2+ years of experience recommended; Sommelier Certification is a plus.
- Extensive knowledge of Italian wines, including regions, producers, and vintages.
- Strong knowledge of food and beverage pairings.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Superior people skills.
- Physical ability to lift and move 40-pound boxes.
