The Sophomore Summer Business Analyst (SSBA) program at McKinsey & Company is designed to provide a unique opportunity for students from historically underrepresented groups to gain exposure to the management consulting profession. This 10-week summer internship allows participants to work in one of McKinsey's U.S. offices, collaborating with a team of consultants to tackle complex business challenges. Interns will engage in various aspects of consulting work, including gathering and analyzing data, formulating hypotheses, and developing actionable recommendations. Throughout the internship, participants will be involved in interviewing stakeholders, leading project teams, building financial models, and creating presentations. They will also have the chance to present their findings and implement solutions in collaboration with their team members. The program emphasizes real-world experience, allowing interns to understand the breadth of work that McKinsey consultants undertake, from serving clients to enhancing the firm's internal capabilities. In addition to the hands-on work, interns will participate in social activities designed to foster connections with peers and McKinsey's culture. A week of training will be provided to equip interns with the necessary skills and knowledge, along with ongoing support from their local office in selecting client projects. The SSBA program specifically aims to connect participants with McKinsey's affinity networks, such as the McKinsey Black Network and the Hispanic and Latino Network, promoting relationship-building and mentorship opportunities.
