About the position
The Sorter at Republic Services is responsible for the safe and efficient processing of incoming recyclable materials, ensuring that outbound commodities meet the standards for sale to various brokers or mills. This role plays a crucial part in the recycling process, contributing to the company's commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Sort and segregate recoverable materials (e.g., aluminum, plastic, glass, paper) from incoming waste.
- Deposit recoverable materials safely and efficiently into appropriate chutes.
- Assist other sorters with heavy or bulky items as needed.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including stopping the conveyor belt in emergency situations.
- Inspect incoming loads for unacceptable waste and remove unacceptable items as required.
- Communicate with equipment operators regarding incoming loads of special waste or other loads that require special attention.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Previous experience working in a Recycling Facility sorting recyclable materials.
