About the position

The Sound Technician position at William & Mary's Office of the Arts is a part-time role focused on supporting various technical and production aspects of the university's arts programs and events. The technician will work under the direction of the Production Manager, collaborating with production and technical managers to provide technical assistance for stage productions and maintain audio equipment. This role requires evening and weekend work, and the technician will also supervise student crews while ensuring a clean and safe condition for all audio equipment.

Responsibilities

• Support technical and production aspects of arts programs and events.
• Collaborate with production and technical managers.
• Perform technical duties in audio and building support.
• Provide technical assistance for stage productions.
• Maintain audio equipment in a clean and safe condition.
• Assess audio needs for multiple shows throughout the year.
• Supervise student crews.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Technical Theatre or equivalent education, experience, and/or training.
• Comprehensive knowledge of operating, maintaining, and repairing sound equipment.
• Knowledge of theatrical/music sound systems and their operation.
• Knowledge of Yamaha consoles, specifically the CL/QL family.
• Knowledge of NDI, SDI, and Dante technologies.
• Proficiency in QLab and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with streaming and recording.
