About the position

Whole Foods Market is excited to offer its 2025 Summer Internship Program, designed for purpose-driven students who are eager to make a difference in their work and community. This internship is based in Austin, Texas, where interns will have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects that impact both internal and external stakeholders. Unlike traditional internships, our interns enjoy free coffee and tea while contributing to significant initiatives rather than performing menial tasks. The Sourcing & Product Development Team at Whole Foods Market is responsible for managing the product lifecycle of all Whole Foods Market Exclusive Brands, including 365 and 365 Organic. This team collaborates closely with various internal teams such as Logistics, Category Management, and Quality & R&D, while also maintaining relationships with external suppliers. Interns will play a vital role in supporting the team’s objectives and will be involved in various aspects of product development and category management. Intern responsibilities may include assessing category performance in collaboration with the Exclusive Brands Category Merchant, ensuring timely product launches, supporting category assortment planning, and conducting ongoing analysis of category performance and promotional effectiveness. Interns will also maintain and update system content and assist with documentation and reporting as needed. This internship is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the natural foods industry while contributing to the mission of nourishing people and the planet.

Responsibilities

  • Assess category performance and achieve strategic category targets and objectives in collaboration with the Exclusive Brands Category Merchant.
  • Collaborate with Exclusive Brands Support Teams to ensure on-time product launches and drive continuous process improvement.
  • Support category assortment planning, including assortment analysis, stakeholder collaboration, item planning, and forecasting.
  • Assist in developing the Exclusive Brand's strategy based on financial expectations, category role, performance, customer trends, and competitive landscape.
  • Conduct ongoing analysis of category performance, promotional effectiveness, trends, and competitive assortment and pricing.
  • Maintain and update appropriate system(s) content and assist with documentation and reporting as assigned.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree.
  • Detail-oriented with strong planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
  • Team player with a positive attitude and ability to manage ambiguity.
  • Ability to work independently and in a group.
  • Ability to deal effectively and comfortably with various stakeholders.
  • Passion for Organics, Fair Trade, Quality Standards, and the Natural Foods industry.
  • Demonstrates intellectual and analytical curiosity.
