About the position

Eastman is seeking a full-time Sourcing Manager for Corporate Professional Services, who will be responsible for leading the category strategy development and sourcing events for the Corporate Professional Services (CPS) category. This role can be performed remotely or from Kingsport, TN, and will report to a Senior Sourcing Manager, Corporate Services. The Sourcing Manager will play a critical role in achieving significant cost reductions while ensuring the quality of products and services provided by suppliers. The individual will apply a structured procurement framework to identify efficiency and cost reduction opportunities, and will facilitate conflict resolution with suppliers and stakeholders regarding delivery and payment issues. The Sourcing Manager will build CPS category strategies by leading a cross-functional team, conducting thorough situation assessments that include internal and external analyses, and evaluating business requirements. They will prioritize category strategy development to align with business, technology, and manufacturing needs, and will lead initiatives that deliver value through effective project management and change management techniques. Tracking spend performance to understand price and volume variances will be essential, as will developing supplier relationship teams to drive continuous performance improvement. In addition, the Sourcing Manager will be responsible for developing annual forecasts of price impacts for the category, creating supplier engagement plans, and conducting supplier development activities to identify potential new suppliers. They will lead sourcing events, including Requests for Information (RFIs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs), utilizing an eRFx tool for engagement. Evaluating and negotiating contracts to ensure alignment with the category strategy and cost advantages will also be a key responsibility, along with managing pricing according to contracts and approving price increase requests from suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Build CPS category strategies by leading a cross-functional, category team
  • Create the situation assessment for the category including internal and external assessments, analysis of the business requirements, value chain and capability assessments (SWOT, 5-Forces, SCP, cost curves, etc.)
  • Lead option generation that includes commercial, specification and demand levers and choices of what we will do and what we will not do
  • Prioritize the CPS category strategy development to align with business, technology, and manufacturing requirements
  • Lead initiatives that deliver the value (cost savings or value to functional area) utilizing project management skills and change management techniques
  • Track the performance of spend to understand price and volume variances; make adjustments to approaches based on results
  • Develop and lead supplier relationship teams, where applicable, to drive continuous performance improvement (annual target development, quarterly progress, etc.)
  • Develop year on year forecast of price impacts for category
  • Develop supplier engagement plans annually for major suppliers
  • Conduct supplier development activities to identify additional potential suppliers
  • Lead sourcing events for the CPS category
  • Lead and conduct RFI's and RFP's utilizing an eRFx tool as the preferred method of engagement
  • Evaluate and negotiate contracts and amendments to deliver the category strategy and initial and ongoing cost advantage
  • Ensure pricing is managed per the contract and approve all price increase requests by suppliers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required (business, engineering, science, supply chain or related). Master's Degree strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years' sourcing and contract management experience is required.
  • Previous exposure to purchasing, sourcing or commercial experience such as contract negotiations, market assessments, strategy frameworks (e.g., Porter analysis, SWOT analysis, etc.) is strongly preferred.
  • Five years project and/or program management background is required.
  • Experience with ERP Software (SAP) or Systems specification, capability, and normal commercial offer terms for large enterprises (>1000 users).
  • Experience with problem solving in a structured manner using data and problem-solving frameworks such as Kepner-Tregoe or McKinsey 4-step.
  • Demonstrated capability to learn new techniques and quickly apply them (action orientation).
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in challenging situations and building consensus.
  • Strong communication ability to convey information to individuals and groups in a variety of situations.
  • Experience with Contracting Management System iCertis is strongly preferred.
