About the position

The Sourcing Specialist 1 for New Product Development at Crown Equipment Corporation is responsible for managing supplier relationships and ensuring that purchasing activities align with pre-developed category strategies. This role involves conducting supplier evaluations, overseeing new product introductions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain product quality and supply chain efficiency. The specialist will also lead supplier development activities and negotiate terms with suppliers to optimize costs and ensure compliance with company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Review pre-developed category strategies and collaborate with peers to ensure Purchasing activities are in accordance with plans.
  • Conduct supplier approval, improvement, elimination, and/or exit tasks.
  • Assist with new product introductions and manage phase in/out of components.
  • Administer relationships with assigned suppliers according to policies and procedures.
  • Monitor supplier production delivery, quality, and warranty performance.
  • Recommend issuance of corrective action requests (CAR's) and follow through until acceptable responses are received.
  • Act with urgency in correcting supply interruption occurrences.
  • Visit supplier facilities to evaluate and problem solve with cross-functional support.
  • Review annual spends with Purchasing Analyst and develop cost savings projects.
  • Coordinate with other Sourcing Specialists globally for cost savings projects.
  • Develop detailed business and qualification requirements for RFQs.
  • Utilize the Bid Control Center and Sealed Bid process.
  • Maintain up-to-date supplier information in the approved supplier list (ASL).
  • Conduct business in compliance with the Company quality management system (QMS).
  • Work with various departments to eradicate existing part problems and supply risks.
  • Lead supplier development activities and review results.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and qualification documents to develop a CPPAS.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to complete a CPPAS on time.
  • Execute product change requests (PCR's) and engineering orders (EO's) in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and plan for negotiations with suppliers on various terms.
  • Maintain accurate pricing data in the Company system.
  • Eradicate invoice problems and ensure discrepancies are corrected timely.
  • Provide written cause and actions for top unforecast supplier price variances.
  • Execute and administer Supply Chain Integration for assigned suppliers.
  • Ensure optimal replenishment strategies are in place for purchased items.
  • Attend department and management meetings and lead discussions on supplier performance.
  • Prepare periodic reports to inform management of supplier status.
  • Attend Supply Management related continuing education classes/seminars.

Requirements

  • A four-year college degree, preferably in Business or Engineering with an emphasis in Supply Management or Operations.
  • One internship or similar experience in Materials, Supply Management, or Operations.
  • Interpersonal, teamwork, and negotiation aptitude.
  • Proficient computer skills are necessary for this position.
  • Manufacturing Engineering or other technical experience is desirable.
  • Ability to travel extensively on sourcing trips may be required.
