About the position
The Sourcing Specialist in Electrical at Sandvik Mining & Rock Solutions is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies aligned with business needs, particularly in the mining industry. This role involves collaborating with local sourcing and engineering teams to optimize material costs and ensure quality and delivery targets are met. The specialist will manage sourcing projects, negotiate contracts, and liaise between engineering and suppliers to maintain production schedules.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with business and program needs.
- Assist in material cost reduction recommendations related to first article pricing and design changes.
- Ensure compliance with Company Values and Policies, including Supplier Sustainability initiatives.
- Liaise between engineering and suppliers for electrical component deviations to keep production on track.
- Manage sourcing projects for complex multi-year New Product Development activities.
- Negotiate multi-year contracts and track material content against a published steel index.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in material sourcing and procurement.
- Experience with manufacturing processes and electrical-based commodities.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience with multi-year contracts.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to read and understand CAD drawings.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and planning capabilities.
Nice-to-haves
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
- Experience with mechanical commodities such as bearings and roller chains.
- Experience with indirect materials and services.
- ISM CPSM and/or APICS CPIM or CSCP certification preferred.
