About the position

The Sourcing Specialist at LyondellBasell plays a vital role in managing specific goods or services categories, contributing to the development and implementation of effective sourcing strategies that align with the company's global objectives. This position is essential for driving value and ensuring compliance with ethical and financial standards while supporting various business operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide input into the development and implementation of sourcing strategies.
  • Support clients in business and functions related to assigned category areas.
  • Independently manage sourcing projects with increasing complexity and medium value.
  • Conduct market analysis activities.
  • Identify, evaluate, and select potential suppliers.
  • Participate in contract negotiations for the assigned category.
  • Execute the sourcing process for goods or services segments.
  • Drive productivity opportunities with the supply base.
  • Support Category Managers during complex sourcing initiatives through data modeling and analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical and financial control standards.
  • Maximize revenue share and control costs by responding to audits and surveys.
  • Collaborate with Procurement Specialists in implementing strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Develop bid specifications that address internal customer needs.
  • Challenge inefficiencies and process deviations.
  • Perform spend analysis by collecting and analyzing spend data.
  • Conduct market research to understand supplier landscape and pricing models.
  • Assess supplier capabilities through KPI analysis and make recommendations.
  • Engage with suppliers to review performance against KPIs and SLAs.
  • Identify and select suppliers prioritizing sustainability practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred (or recognized equivalent).
  • 4+ years related experience required with a degree (8+ years in lieu of a degree).
  • 3+ years of chemical or related industry experience preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing environment, in Technical or Business related positions preferred.
  • Negotiations and contract experience required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree preferred (or recognized equivalent).
  • Experience in purchasing and materials management.
