About the position

The Sous Chef at Morrison Healthcare is responsible for overseeing the Culinary Department's operations within a healthcare facility. This role involves assisting the Executive Chef in menu planning, food preparation, and managing kitchen staff, ensuring high-quality food service and compliance with health standards. The position offers an exciting opportunity for culinary professionals to contribute to a leading food and nutrition services company dedicated to enhancing patient experiences through mindful and sustainable food practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Executive Chef with managing cost controls and expenditures for the account.
• Help plan and create menus alongside the Executive Chef.
• Produce and execute catering events.
• Implement new culinary programs in collaboration with the Company marketing and culinary team.

Requirements

• A.S. degree or equivalent experience in culinary arts.
• Progressive culinary/kitchen management experience, depending on formal degree or training.
• Experience in catering is a plus.
• High volume, complex foodservice operations experience is highly desirable.
• Institutional and batch cooking experience is helpful.
• Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends, focusing on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, and the Internet.
• Willingness to participate in client satisfaction programs/activities.
• ServSafe certification is highly desirable.
