About the position

The Sous Chef at Embassy Suites by Hilton Fort Worth Downtown is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of kitchen staff engaged in food preparation and cooking. This role ensures that food is prepared according to prescribed methods and standards, while also stepping in to cook and carve meats during busy periods. The Sous Chef will take charge of the kitchen in the absence of the Executive Chef, planning and organizing meal preparations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and kitchen staff.
  • Observe food preparation to ensure methods and portion sizes are followed.
  • Provide instructions to cooking personnel on cooking techniques.
  • Cook and carve meats, and prepare dishes during rush periods and for events.
  • Assume responsibility for the kitchen in the absence of the Chef.
  • Prepare food products using standardized techniques.
  • Recognize food conditions and cooking temperatures.

Requirements

  • ACF Certification or Culinary Arts degree, apprenticeship, or AOS Degree.
  • Minimum 2 years of kitchen supervisory experience.
  • At least 3 years of kitchen operations experience, including 1 year in a lead cook position and 1 year in a steward position.
  • Food Safety Certification.
