About the position

The South Grove Elementary Paraprofessional plays a crucial role in supporting students and teachers in the classroom, particularly for children requiring academic and behavioral assistance. This position involves working closely with students in various settings to ensure a conducive learning environment and to help maintain classroom order.

Responsibilities

• Assist students and teachers with day-to-day classroom activities.
• Work with groups of students inside and/or outside the classroom in small groups or one-on-one instruction.
• Monitor appropriate student behavior.
• Assist the teacher and provide supervision to students in various locations throughout the school day.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Aid in preparing the classroom for the close of school.
• Responsible for the health, welfare, and safety of students.
• Assist with bus needs, including meeting the bus and taking students to the bus at the end of the day.
• Assist with behavior issues and behavior plans.
• Keep the teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
• Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Indiana Driver's License.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Knowledge of computer and work room equipment.
• Must pass pre-employment criminal history check.

Nice-to-haves

• Prior experience in a classroom setting preferred.
