About the position

The Senior DevOps Engineer role at SAP focuses on the Sovereign Cloud deployment of SAP SuccessFactors (HCM). This position is part of the newly formed Sovereign Cloud Delivery & Operations team, responsible for building and automating the deployment of SAP SuccessFactors applications to customers. The role involves collaboration with various teams to ensure functional completeness, streamlined deployments, and smooth operations, while addressing unique challenges related to scale and security in the Sovereign Cloud environment.

Responsibilities

• Build automation and deployment processes for SAP SuccessFactors applications in the Sovereign Cloud.
• Collaborate with technical product managers, engineers, and architects to ensure effective deployment.
• Drive end-to-end deployment of product capabilities, including defining implementation concepts and performing assessments.
• Engage with regional Operations colleagues and other engineering teams to ensure smooth operations and security compliance.
• Act as the subject matter expert for the Sovereign Cloud HCM environment setup.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in Cloud DevOps Engineering or related fields.
• 2+ years of experience in cloud operations, developing, delivering, and maintaining Cloud Products.
• In-depth knowledge of hyperscalers like AWS.
• Experience with deployment automation tools such as Ansible and Chef.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools, preferably Terraform.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, preferably ArgoCD, Gitlab CI/CD, or Jenkins.
• Knowledge of monitoring tools like Dynatrace and CloudWatch.
• Experience with logging tools such as Splunk, Elasticsearch, or Logstash.
• Familiarity with cloud networking tools like AWS VPCs, VNet, or Google VPC.
• Experience with container orchestration tools like Gardener, Kubernetes, or Docker.
• Scripting experience in languages such as PowerShell or Python.
• Understanding of security best practices, including hardened containers and images.

Nice-to-haves

• Product knowledge of SuccessFactors (HCM) applications including Mobile.
• SAP HANA database knowledge.
• Experience with security tools like Hashicorp Vault.
