About the position

The Space Cyber Security Architect at General Atomics is responsible for leading the development of security architecture for space vehicle and ground systems. This role involves collaborating with internal and external teams to implement and accredit systems while ensuring compliance with multi-domain security requirements. The position requires a strong background in space systems design and security, with a focus on customer interaction and innovative problem-solving.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of space vehicle and ground security architecture to satisfy multi-domain security requirements.
  • Lead customer working groups as the primary point of contact for cyber security implementations of NIST-800-53 and NIST 800-171.
  • Interface with internal IT and engineering teams to ensure cyber security requirements are met.
  • Support end-to-end execution of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process including review and approval of all cyber related artifacts.
  • Contribute to model-based engineering initiatives ensuring complete capture of security architecture and requirements within the model.
  • Support the full lifecycle of space system requirements development, design, integration, test and operations.
  • Contribute to the development of conceptual system designs for new business opportunities.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree, master's degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience.
  • Fifteen or more years of experience with a bachelor's degree, thirteen or more years of experience with a master's degree, or ten or more years with a PhD.
  • TS/SCI clearance is required.
  • At least 10 years of experience in space systems design, architecture and security architectures.
  • Experience taking at least one system through IATT and/or IATO.
  • Experience implementing Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) techniques.
  • Experience with AWS Gov Cloud solutions.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • One or more of the following security certifications: CISSP, GIAC Certifications, CISM, CISA, Security+.
