About the position

BAE Systems is seeking a Hardware Engineering Section Manager for our Space Systems Product Line within the Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) Business area, primarily focused on programs based in Manassas, Virginia. This role is pivotal in leading a department of electrical, mechanical, and radiation engineers who support various Space programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for the capture, planning, and execution of C4ISR hardware programs, ensuring technical oversight, staff planning, performance monitoring, and metrics reporting. This position requires a strong leader who can effectively manage a diverse team and drive technical performance while understanding the relevant product technologies of the business area programs. As a first line supervisor, you will work closely with engineering product leads and be involved in program proposal development relevant to product roadmaps. You will also participate in the hiring process and be responsible for developing, mentoring, counseling, and evaluating the performance of your subordinates. The role demands a comprehensive understanding of the Hardware Engineering Process, acting as the HW process application expert relevant to your specialty, and ensuring the appropriate instantiation of processes for the programs under your purview. Responsibilities

  • Lead a department of electrical, mechanical, and radiation engineers supporting Space programs.
  • Capture, plan, and execute C4ISR hardware programs with technical oversight.
  • Monitor performance and report metrics for hardware programs.
  • Participate in the hiring process and develop, mentor, and evaluate subordinates.
  • Collaborate with engineering product leads on program execution strategies.
  • Develop program proposals relevant to product roadmaps.
  • Act as the Hardware Engineering Process application expert for relevant programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 10+ years of work experience or equivalent experience.
  • Secret Clearance and ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and communication skills.
  • Leadership ability in Engineering Planning & Project Launch, Driving Technical Performance, and Risk & Opportunity Management.
  • Understanding of the Hardware Engineering Process.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Familiarity with C4ISR product domains.
  • Familiarity with AS9145.
  • Top Secret Clearance.
