About the position

SAIC is seeking a Space Systems Software Architectural Analyst to lead a comprehensive study of software architectures for autonomous space vehicle operations. This role involves evaluating various design approaches, assessing their advantages and limitations, and developing a structured research plan to guide future research and development efforts. The analyst will work offsite to ensure unbiased research and will be responsible for delivering a detailed report on the findings and recommendations for software architecture choices.

Responsibilities

  • Craft a detailed research plan to systematically evaluate different software architectures used in autonomous space vehicles.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of existing software frameworks, assessing their suitability for autonomous operations in space environments.
  • Compare and contrast the scalability, reliability, and performance of various software architectures.
  • Identify potential risks and mitigation strategies associated with each architectural approach.
  • Compile a comprehensive study report that articulates the pros and cons of each software architecture, providing clear guidance for future R&D directions.
  • Formulate strategic recommendations for software architecture choices that align with the organization's goals for innovation in autonomous space vehicle operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience or 3 years with a Master's degree.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
  • Knowledge of software engineering and architecture, particularly in the context of autonomous systems or aerospace applications.
  • Proven analytical skills with a strong ability to evaluate complex software systems.
  • Familiarity with the unique challenges of space vehicle operations and the software requirements they entail.
  • Exceptional communication skills for articulating technical concepts and findings to a varied audience.
  • Strategic vision for future technology trends and their potential impact on space vehicle operations.
