About the position

The Space Vehicle Propulsion Engineer at BAE Systems is responsible for the design, manufacture, procurement, and testing of propulsion systems and components. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including customers and suppliers, throughout the complete life cycle of propulsion systems, from definition and design to testing and launch operations. The position emphasizes maintaining effective working relationships and contributing to a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, manufacture, procure, and test propulsion systems, components, and assemblies.
• Coordinate with customers, suppliers, test facilities, and other related fields.
• Engage in the complete life cycle of propulsion systems from definition to on-orbit operations.
• Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department and across the company.
• Perform other duties as necessary.

Requirements

• BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field.
• 2 or more years of related experience in a design-related role.
• Ability to work on a multi-disciplinary team performing detailed design/analysis.
• Effective in a small team-work environment with broad responsibilities and minimal oversight.
• Knowledge or willingness to learn a wide range of propulsion system types.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Excel & Word.

Nice-to-haves

• Desire to learn and foster intellectual curiosity.
• Experience designing and/or testing in-space electric propulsion systems.
• Knowledge or willingness to learn Electric Propulsion Subsystem Engineering aspects.
• Direct knowledge of applied plasma physics with spacecraft/instrument interactions.
