About the position

The Solar and Astrophysics group at Lockheed Martin ATC is seeking a mechanical engineer with experience in optical space vehicle systems engineering, integration & test, and experience with spacecraft to launch vehicle integration to support the MUSE program. The candidate will have experience in performing and managing the spacecraft test plan development, the spacecraft assembly & test, and launch vehicle interface definition and coordination. Previous experience with integration of a space borne electro-optical imaging system is highly desired. The successful candidate will also provide technical direction in support of major program reviews including CDR, SIR, PER, PSR, and TRRs. Additionally, the candidate will provide technical leadership during internal and external meetings with the MUSE team and the customer.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and manage spacecraft test plan development.
  • Oversee spacecraft assembly and testing.
  • Define and coordinate launch vehicle interface.
  • Provide technical direction for major program reviews.
  • Lead technical discussions in meetings with the MUSE team and customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Aerospace or related discipline.
  • Experience with spacecraft mechanical design, assembly, integration and test.
  • Experience with spacecraft to launch vehicle integration.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • 7+ years of professional experience in a related field.
  • Spacecraft systems engineering experience including trade studies across primary system budgets.
  • Launch Systems integration experience including launches with rideshare and primary vehicle status.
  • Space Vehicle Assembly, Integration and Test leadership experience.
  • Anomaly investigation and resolution experience.
  • On-Orbit commissioning experience.
  • Ability to become a certified test conductor.
