About the position
The Paraprofessional - Pre-K Special Education position at Oklahoma City Public Schools involves providing essential support to the instructional program within a classroom setting. The paraprofessional will also handle clerical tasks to support teachers and maintain classroom organization.
Responsibilities
- Adapts classroom activities and materials to support learning goals.
- Administers classroom assignments to assist teachers in the instructional process.
- Assists students with lesson assignments to reinforce learning concepts.
- Communicates with teachers to evaluate student progress and implement classroom objectives.
- Maintains classroom equipment and records to ensure a safe learning environment.
- Monitors students in various settings to provide a positive learning atmosphere.
- Performs general clerical tasks to prepare instructional materials.
- Reports observations and incidents related to student behavior and safety.
- Assists with personal care needs of students, including diaper changes and feeding.
- Performs other assigned duties as necessary.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Completed at least 48 credit hours of college study, passed the OGET test, or passed the Education Testing Service Parapro Assessment Test with a score of 455 or better.
- Must obtain OSDE Paraprofessional Credential.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment and use pertinent software applications.
- Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records and perform basic math.
- Knowledge of grammar, punctuation, child development stages, and age-appropriate activities.
- Ability to work with diverse individuals and utilize job-related equipment.
- Problem-solving skills to identify issues and create action plans.
