About the position
The Analyst, Deferred Revenue Accounting & Reporting position at Universal Orlando is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial results and reporting submissions related to deferred revenue. This role involves analytical data mining, reporting functions, and collaboration with various departments to streamline financial processes and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP. The candidate will also participate in financial reviews with executive leadership and assist in forecasting future revenue balances.
Responsibilities
- Support the overall deferred revenue accounting function by understanding all UO deferred revenue ticket types and the IT systems that support reporting and recognition of revenue.
- Ensure supporting deferred revenue reports agree with source ticketing systems and that revenue is recognized in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Partner with various UO divisions including Finance, Product Planning, and IT to manage ticket type setups and modifications, ensuring proper flow through BOH accounting systems.
- Streamline BOH financial processes to enhance clarity, accuracy, and efficiency, reducing repetitive tasks using SQL, VBA, and Excel.
- Assist with the month-end close process of deferred revenue, including preparation and analysis of schedules and posting journal entries in SAP.
- Forecast future deferred revenue balances and breakage results accurately.
- Create and execute automation and data mining requests using Microsoft Access and Excel.
- Assist Senior Financial Analyst and Director of Finance with various ad hoc projects.
- Participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by adhering to UO policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree is required.
- 3+ years' experience in an analytical environment, including accounting, IT audit concepts, and/or data analysis.
