About the position

The Assistant Director for Academic Advising at the School of Civic Leadership is responsible for providing honors advising to undergraduate students, managing degree audits, student records, and supporting various academic affairs. This role is integral to promoting student success and engagement within the Civics Honors program.

Responsibilities

• Advise current Civics Honors students on requirements, degree planning, academic policies, and career planning.
• Communicate with Civics Honors students registered for summer orientation.
• Coordinate with New Student Services and other departments for orientation logistics.
• Manage and maintain student records in various systems including Advisor's Tool Kit and Interactive Degree Audit.
• Coordinate with SCL staff for course scheduling and registration.
• Support student admission and progress, promoting scholarship opportunities and Civics Honors programming.
• Maintain an active connection to the SCL mission.
• Perform other related responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and at least five years advising experience at UT Austin.
• Commitment to SCL mission and to student wellbeing.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with high accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
