About the position

The Assistant Director of CyberHealth at Dakota State University (DSU) will lead initiatives aimed at enhancing CyberHealth by developing strategies to protect sensitive health data and improve healthcare system resilience against cyber threats. This role involves collaboration with stakeholders and the implementation of advanced cybersecurity solutions tailored for the healthcare sector. The position is externally funded and subject to continual funding.

Responsibilities

  • Serve in a client relationship role to provide consulting services between healthcare organizations and the health information exchange (SD Health Link).
  • Advise healthcare organizations on the appropriate use of available technologies.
  • Educate professional staff to ensure safe practice and competence utilizing SD Health Link services.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve health information exchange systems problems to minimize downtime of applications and personnel.
  • Create a supportive and collaborative environment within the Health Link team.
  • Mentor team members, provide guidance, and ensure the team's collective success in delivering high-quality solutions.
  • Establish and prioritize SD Health Link initiatives or action plans to ensure healthcare needs are met.
  • Analyze and evaluate changes to operations and data; assist improvements to quality, cost, and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards for the entire program and health information technology services.
  • Develop training programs and train healthcare professionals on Health Information Technology/SD Health Link procedures.
  • Monitor billing and financial activities, including reviewing and reconciling documents records.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, healthcare information technology, computer science, or a related field.
  • Preference for candidates holding advanced degrees or certifications in cybersecurity, healthcare compliance, or CyberHealth specialties.
  • Ability to translate complex technical jargon into simple, actionable language.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
