About the position

The Assistant General Manager at Whaling Bar is responsible for supporting, leading, and inspiring the team while ensuring the restaurant meets its financial objectives. This hybrid position may involve bartending or serving, requiring 3-4 days of availability each week. The role encompasses financial management, marketing initiatives, inventory control, and maintaining high standards of patron satisfaction and facility safety.

Responsibilities

• Meet restaurant financial objectives by developing financing and establishing banking relationships.
• Prepare strategic and annual forecasts and budgets; analyze variances and initiate corrective actions.
• Establish and monitor financial controls and develop strategies to increase average meal checks.
• Attract patrons by developing and implementing marketing, advertising, and community relations programs.
• Evaluate program results and identify changing demands.
• Control purchases and inventory by collaborating with the General Manager, Director of Operations, and Bar Manager.
• Negotiate prices and contracts; develop preferred supplier lists and review usage reports.
• Maintain patron satisfaction by monitoring and auditing food, beverage, and service offerings.
• Initiate improvements and build relationships with preferred patrons.
• Ensure a safe, secure, and healthy facility environment by enforcing sanitation standards and complying with health regulations.

Requirements

• 3-4 days a week of availability.
• Experience in restaurant management or a similar role.
• Strong financial acumen and ability to develop budgets and forecasts.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
